What I thought
This one stayed with me long after I closed it. What I connected with most was the quiet dignity Hosseini gives his characters — their inner lives feel every bit as real as the events around them. It's an emotionally heavy read at times, but never gratuitous, and there's real warmth threaded through the pain. It reminded me how powerful a novel can be at building empathy for lives very different from our own, and how much strength there is in ordinary tenderness.
