Don't Believe Everything You Think
by Joseph Nguyen
About the book
A short, calm book about the difference between thinking and thought — and how much of our suffering comes from believing every mental story that passes through us. Joseph Nguyen draws on his own experience and a range of contemplative traditions to point toward a more spacious relationship with the mind, one where peace doesn't depend on constantly rearranging your thoughts.
What I thought
There was something very comforting about the simplicity of this one. It doesn't try to impress you with complexity; it just returns, again and again, to a very clear idea and lets you sit with it. What I appreciated most was how gentle the tone is — no pressure, no performance, just a quiet reminder that you're not obligated to believe every thought that shows up. It's the kind of book you can revisit whenever your mind is louder than usual.
