Flickan som lekte med elden

by Stieg Larsson

About the book

The second book in Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy. When journalists at Millennium prepare to publish an investigation into sex trafficking, three people are murdered and Lisbeth Salander becomes the prime suspect. What follows is a tense, layered story about institutional abuse, buried secrets and the people who refuse to look away — anchored by one of the most unforgettable protagonists in modern crime fiction.

What I thought

Impossible to put down. Larsson writes anger really well — the slow, organised kind that goes after systems instead of people — and Lisbeth is the kind of character you end up quietly rooting for with your whole chest. Underneath the thriller there is a real fury at how women are treated, and I appreciated that the book never softens it. A gripping, intelligent read that earns every one of its pages.
