Konsten att höra hjärtslag
by Jan-Philipp Sendker
About the book
The Swedish edition of The Art of Hearing Heartbeats. When Julia's father disappears without warning, she follows a trail to a small village in Burma and slowly uncovers the love story that shaped his life long before she was born. Sendker writes with a soft, almost meditative rhythm and treats blindness, loss and devotion as different ways of learning to listen.
What I thought
A quietly beautiful book. It reminded me that real love is often about attention more than anything else — about hearing the person underneath the noise of daily life. The story has a fairytale quality without ever feeling naive, and it left me with a very calm, warm feeling, like the last minutes of a long conversation with someone who really sees you. One to read slowly, on a quiet evening.
