To the Man I Loved Too Much: And the Ones who Didn't Love Me Enough
by Gabrielle G.
About the book
A tender collection of poems and reflections written to the different men who have shaped, hurt, and taught the narrator about love. Gabrielle G. moves through longing, disappointment, tenderness, and self-recognition, giving voice to the quiet emotional labour of loving deeply and often unevenly. It reads like pages from a private notebook that somehow speak to a much wider human experience.
What I thought
There was something very comforting about the honesty in these pages. It reads like someone giving language to feelings I've noticed in myself but never quite articulated — the tender ones, the ones tinged with regret, the ones that are really about growing up emotionally. I appreciated how the collection doesn't try to teach or fix anything; it just witnesses. It felt like sitting with a friend who's already been where you are and isn't in a hurry to move you on from it.
